Dutch chocolate brand, Tony's Chocolonely, and Scottish craft brewer, BrewDog, have collaborated on a project fusing chocolate with beer. With Tony's' focus on ethical chocolate and BrewDog's philosophy of sustainability, the two visions have combined to create a White Chocolate and Raspberry IPA.

Chocolate fans might recognise the inspiration for the drink from Tony’s White Chocolate Raspberry And Popping Candy Bar, which is clad in a bright pink wrapper. The design of the can mimics this, coining the phrase "Tony’s Hopolonely" in the process.

The bold 5.7% India pale ale delivers a blend of sweet and sharp fruit notes, with a milkshake mouth feel. According to the tasting notes, the nose is sweet with a hit of sharp raspberries and hints of milky chocolate.

It's not just about taste though. BrewDog has committed to make a donation to The Chocolonely Foundation, which supports projects to improve the lives of cocoa communities in West Africa, for every can sold.

BrewDog - which famously produced ALD IPA in response to a bizarre social media exchange with discount supermarket brand, Aldi - started life in 2007, with a mission to unite passionate craft beer lovers. From humble beginnings, BrewDog now operates 102 bars across the globe and exports to over 60 countries. It even has a brewery in Ohio in the United States of America.

Last year, BrewDog became the first carbon negative brewery in the world and became a certified B-Corp earlier this year. Tony’s Chocolonely, a fellow certified B-Corp, is a Fairtrade-certified chocolate brand from the Netherlands, founded by three journalists in 2005. It sheds light on the inequalities in the chocolate industry and seeks to make 100% slave-free the norm in chocolate.

Limited-edition four-packs of 330ml cans are available to purchase online from the BrewDog online shop (£5.95 for four cans; or £16.95 for 12 cans, plus delivery).

Remember to drink responsibly.
